Keynote Speaker

 

Professor Yasuhiro Aoki
Saitama Institute of Technology, Japan
He is Professor of both Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering, Saitama Institute of Technology, Japan. His research interests include fiber transmission and network technologies for next generation optical communication systems as well as application of ICT technology to such areas as IoT.

 

He spent 33 years at NEC Corporation, mostly performing and managing research and development of optical telecommunications systems at Central Research Laboratories and Submarine Networks Division, before joining Saitama Institute of Technology in 2014. He contributed to the development of optical fiber amplifier systems and relevant advanced products, covering from 5Gb/s and 10Gb/s to the latest 100 Gb/s WDM systems.

 

He holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D degrees, all in Electrical Engineering, from the Faculty of Engineering Science, Osaka University, Japan, and is an author of more than 80 technical papers and conference contributions.

Mitigation of Optical Nonlinear Degradation by Optical Spread Spectrum in Coherent Optical Fiber Transmission Systems

 

Abstract:
Optical fiber nonlinearity is one of the dominant factors that limit transmission distance and capacity. In this paper we theoretically investigate the nonlinear noise suppression by means of optical spread spectrum technology in digital coherent DP-QPSK and DP-16QAM optical transmission systems, and clarify the dependence of performance improvement on the number of multiplexed channels
